Myopia Control Q&A
Myopia Control with Stellest™ Lenses
Protect Your Child’s Vision with Advanced Myopia Management
Myopia, commonly known as nearsightedness, is becoming increasingly common in children. Without treatment, myopia can worsen over time, increasing the risk of eye health problems later in life. At 2020 Family Vision, our team offers advanced myopia control treatments, including Stellest™ lenses, to help slow the progression of nearsightedness and support long-term eye health.
Under the care of experienced optometrist Tiffany Zair-Yalda, OD, families receive personalized eye care and innovative treatment options designed to protect children’s vision as they grow.
What Is Myopia?
Myopia occurs when the eye grows too long from front to back, causing distant objects to appear blurry while close objects remain clear. Myopia often begins in childhood and can worsen during the school years.
Common signs of myopia in children include:
- Squinting to see distant objects
- Difficulty seeing the classroom board
- Sitting very close to screens or books
- Frequent headaches or eye strain
- Complaints of blurry distance vision
Without proper management, myopia can continue to progress and may increase the risk of future eye conditions such as:
- Retinal detachment
- Glaucoma
- Myopic macular degeneration
What Is Myopia Control?
Myopia control focuses on slowing the progression of nearsightedness rather than simply correcting vision with glasses or contact lenses.
At 2020 Family Vision, Dr. Zair-Yalda evaluates each child’s vision, eye growth, and lifestyle factors to determine the most appropriate treatment plan. Early intervention can make a significant difference in protecting your child’s long-term eye health.
What Are Stellest™ Lenses?
Stellest™ lenses are a specialized type of eyeglass lens designed specifically for myopia control in children. These advanced lenses use innovative optical technology to both:
- Provide clear vision for everyday activities
- Help slow the elongation of the eye that causes myopia progression
Unlike standard glasses, Stellest lenses are designed with a unique lens structure that helps manage how light focuses on the retina, which may reduce the rate at which myopia worsens.
Benefits of Stellest lenses include:
- Slowing the progression of nearsightedness
- Clear, comfortable vision throughout the day
- Non-invasive and easy for children to wear
- A safe and effective option for many pediatric patients
